Night One at Dardar

September 1, 2009

Exceeded expectations.

This is the closest description I can come up, as of now, with regard to the place which indulged my curiosity on things sensual. Let us call the place “Dardar”, to keep its anonymity, and this event “Night One”.

But, firstly, what do I really expect?

I expect that ladies will be good, in most sense of the term. Well, for me (and this is arguable), they all are. When we are already inside Dardar Bar, a show has already started. The ladies here look great; their physical attributes are very good, too. The restaurateurs have shown us our table, and my group settles in a place not too far from the stage and which is positioned near the right side (audience’s point of view).

I am not sure if the bar is having difficulty with keeping the lights in full blast on (later, I will realize that most venues have this lighting effect employed). But, needless to say, our group is mesmerized, maybe more about the three ladies dancing onstage than on the poles nor the light effect. Sure, those femmes are not hardcore pole dancers (I know this from TV), yet we can care less about the style and dwell more on the substance. And assume that some of them may be hardcore on something else. Their attire is simple yet fascinating. I learned soon enough that the less clothes ladies wear, the more money have to be spent.

We look up on the performers. We drink our beer. We keep looking up on the performers. Occasionally, one or two of us go to the washroom. Have I mentioned we keep looking up on the performers onstage? When I am about to fall into the depths of boredom because of the repetitive nature of our actions, the usual lights are put out completely only to be replaced by a dimmer glow which does not flicker. Somebody in the dark shouts, “Umereya na kayo! Area na! Area na!” Soon enough, we discover what “area” means in this kind of place. It is that exciting time when the performers are to go to the “audience area” and sit on either beside a patron or on his lap. The ladies do this without changing their attire. And, uh, sure I almost forgot that they are wearing almost no attire at all. Sorry.

What has kept my fascination is that, first timers we might be (this is the first time I lead a group to this kind of place), we are also quite lucky. One of my college brods actually experienced that “area” activity of the ladies. But this also means additional damage on our pockets. Nevertheless, this remains an enjoyable feat for all of us.

Night One at Dardar has become a successful venture. But something bothers me, something I have to deal alone for most of the days and nights to come, especially during the canvass trips.
